Workspace Week
NATIONAL WORKSPACE WEEK 20-26 OCTOBER 2025
Helping prevent workplace injuries
An initiative of the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA), National WorkSpace Week (20-26 October
2025) is dedicated to the prevention and early intervention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders
(WMSDs), Australia’s most common workplace injury accounts for the majority (57%) of workers ' compensation claims for serious injuries.
WorkSpace Week is committed to ensuring Australia’s workforce can ‘work well every day’ by reducing the
occurrence and impact of WMSDs caused by physical stress, mental stress, repetitive work and poorly set up non-ergonomic workspaces.
With WMSDs affecting millions of Australians each year, WorkSpace Week aims to educate workers and
employers about the importance of maintaining a healthy work environment to minimise spinal health risks by improving work practices, including posture, ergonomics, and by consulting an ACA chiropractor in the
prevention and treatment of WMSDs.
According to data from Safe Work Australia, musculoskeletal injuries are the most prevalent, accounting for 35.5% of Australia’s work-related injury or disease claims. Musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases rank third at 14.5%, just behind wounds, lacerations and organ damage at 14.7%. WMSDs are the leading cause of workers’ compensation claims, with 32.7% stemming from body stressing, including traumatic damage to joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. For these reasons, WorkSpace Week and raising awareness of modifiable risk factors and treatment options are critical in helping to combat WMSDs.
By promoting prevention and minimising long-term harm through early diagnosis and effective chiropractic
healthcare; we can improve the spinal health and overall well-being of Australian workers to minimise WMSDs and reduce the negative impact on employers and the economy.
To help prevent workspace injuries and reduce the impact of WMSDs, employers and workers are encouraged to visit workspaceweek.org.au to access a range of free resources, including the WorkSpace Week Checklists, exercise posters, factsheets and podcasts to learn how to maximise spinal health and wellbeing, minimise injuries and improve productivity, ensuring all Australians can work well every day.
